Dear Educators: My thinking and philosophy concerning the development of content that is read mostly by, and targeted toward, academics has grown in recent years. The basic premise is that educators are tired of being oversold on the capabilities and features of education technologies, that there is too much jargon and too many false claims being propagated by marketing and advertising professionals, that the information educators need and want must be more accurately and honestly focused on realistic solutions to the challenges they face on a daily basis. It’s simple enough, but not doable without a talented writer who thinks like a journalist, conducts deep and timely research, and knows how to interview people and ask the right questions. Your messaging must conform to the Internet-driven world where information is easily obtainable, where intelligent minds publish the truth, where discerning readers are more able to pick and choose information that has meaning and significance to them. The people who make decisions about your content should have a strong background in writing to an academic audience, and they should have a clear understanding of, or know how to discover, the needs and wants of that audience. No more hype, please. No more jargon - just plain English that does not obfuscate the truth. If you are interested in discussing how I can help you produce white papers, case studies, special reports, feature articles and news releases, please contact me anytime.
